Firewood choice :
We consider hard firewood (oak, beech, ash,…) as the best choice because they burn with nice flames and they give a high warmth yield.
The wood must be dry, that means that it has been cut down and chopped for more than 2 years. At the same time the wood must be kept in an aerated and sheltered space
First use and rotation
Your fireplace or stove needs a period of rotation . Never make an enormous fire at the first use. The period of rotation means that you have to increase the time of burning (example, the first time a small fire during 15 minutes, the next day a fire during 30 minutes…)
Maintenance of your fireplace and flue.
Every year the flue must be controlled by a recognized chimney-sweeper before the “burning-season” starts.
The fireplace itself, must be well kept. For this, we refer to the directions of use.
